Dear students,
the main topics to be covered in the EHM-4200 Design Project and EHM-9000 Capstone Project courses during the 2026–2027 academic year are listed in the table below.

All students enrolled in the EHM4200-Design Project or EHM9000-Capstone Project courses;
- must form teams of 2 (two) or 3 (three) members and select one of the topics listed under the main heading above. The specific project title will be determined by the project team and the faculty advisor, provided that it falls within the scope of the selected main topic.
- As a team of two or three members, please download the FR-1487 Electronic and Communication Engineering Department Design Project Guidelines from the website https://kalite.yildiz.edu.tr/sayfa/Kalite-Dokümanları/Formlar/339.
Important notes when filling out the form:
- The FR-1487 form must be completed electronically. Do not fill it out by hand.
- After the form is completed, it must be signed by all team members using a blue ballpoint pen. Documents signed with a pencil will not be considered valid.
- When filling out the FR-1487 form, be sure to enter your institutional email addresses with the ...@std.yildiz.edu.tr domain provided by our university in the email contact information section.
- After entering all required information and obtaining all signatures, please send the FR-1487 form in PDF format to the Graduation Project Committee’s email address, ehmprojekomisyonu@yildiz.edu.tr, no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026to the Thesis Committee’s email address: ehmprojekomisyonu@yildiz.edu.tr. It is sufficient for one (1) student from each team to send the email. There is no need for team members to submit the same form individually.
- Students whose project applications have been accepted for institution-internal projects supported by the BAP Coordination Office, BİDEB projects, TÜBİTAK-supported entrepreneurship projects, TUSAŞ-supported LIFT-UP projects, and similar projects supported by other institutions or organizations may count the relevant project topics as their Design Project - or Graduation Thesis. These students must list the supported project topics on the FR-1487 form and submit it via email along with the project acceptance/support approval letter provided by the supporting institution.
Project topics submitted to 2209 BİDEB projects, TÜBİTAK-supported entrepreneurship projects, and similar institutions/organizations, whose applications have not yet been accepted, may be counted as a Design Project/ Thesis Topic. Applications submitted to the Departmental Committee by the project advisor will be evaluated by the Departmental Committee and, if deemed appropriate, will be accepted as a Design Project/Thesis topic.
- Students who are unable to form a team must rank the topics listed above in order of preference (from first choice to last) and send them via email to ehmprojekomisyonu@yildiz.edu.tr. The Thesis Committee will pair up remaining individual students based on their order of preference and form teams of two or three members.
- Students who fail to submit the FR-1487 form and/or do not notify the committee that they were unable to form a team will have their project topics assigned by the Graduation Project Committee.
- The Design Project/Thesis project teams and advisor assignments will be announced on the EHM Department website by the end of the second week of the semester.
Recommendations
- Project proposals should be designed to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you have acquired in your courses and should result in a complex system, process, device, or product. Here, the term “complex system” refers to a system, process, device, or product that consists of multiple components and various subsystems and/or involves more than one discipline, and whose analysis and design present a complex problem. A complex problem is a broad-scope problem involving various stakeholders with different requirements, which may require some or all of the following elements: in-depth engineering knowledge, abstract thinking, the creative application of fundamental engineering principles and research-based knowledge in leading topics of the relevant engineering discipline, or the development of a new model or method—and that involves various stakeholders with different requirements and may have significant consequences in various contexts.
- Projects must have a master design that incorporates engineering standards and realistic conditions/constraints. Work consisting entirely of literature review and/or analysis only, or partial design exercises conducted as part of a theoretical or applied course, and/or design work that does not sufficiently meet engineering standards and realistic conditions/constraints will not be accepted.
