Accreditation

The Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK) is an independent organization dedicated to contributing to the improvement of the quality of engineering education by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and outreach activities for engineering education programs across various disciplines.

MÜDEK was established in 2002 by the Council of Engineering Deans (MDK)—comprising the deans of faculties offering engineering education in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus—as an independent platform named the Engineering Evaluation Board, with the purpose of developing and implementing a detailed program for the evaluation of these faculties’ undergraduate engineering programs. It was established as an independent platform under the name Engineering Evaluation Board, began evaluating engineering programs in 2003, and became an association in 2007.

With the exception of MÜDEK’s administrative staff, all individuals serving on MÜDEK’s boards, committees, working groups, and accreditation evaluation teams work on a voluntary basis without receiving any compensation.

Since November 17, 2006, MÜDEK has been a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE – European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) and has been a signatory to the Washington Accord (WA) since June 15, 2011.

To contribute to improving the quality of engineering education by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and outreach activities for engineering education programs across various disciplines, thereby ensuring the advancement of societal well-being by training better-educated and more qualified engineers who understand current and emerging technologies.
